How long does bankruptcy take?

A person who files bankruptcy for the first time and has no "surplus income" is eligible for an automatic discharge in 9 months.

A person who files bankruptcy for the first time and has "surplus income" is eligible for an automatic discharge in 21 months.

A person who files bankruptcy for the second time and has no "surplus income" is eligible for an automatic discharge in 24 months.

A person who files bankruptcy for the second time and has "surplus income" is eligible for an automatic discharge in 36 months.
